GODISNOWHERE: An American Journey

Daniel K. Hedrick Jr.  ·  Copyright 2012

An autobiography · Ministry of Truth and Challenge

This book reveals what happens when an average middle class citizen of higher than normal intelligence, living in the mostly secular suburban Mile High City, gets a chance to grow up to find and give hope and knowledge to many men, women and young adults while traveling throughout the nation and across the world.

In these pages you will be introduced to a great deal of experiences gained in a lifetime of challenging the "common man" about spirituality, science, philosophy and a host of other topics, all designed with the primary purpose of exposing and implanting concepts to introduce them to both God and men.

And this is how it is done. Read the phrase below, and if anyone is around, ask them what the phrase says:

GODISNOWHERE

Most people see the "NO" before they see the "NOW," mainly because we read from left to right. No matter how prominent no is, now is seen about 15% of the time. Fewer see both. The answer to the question, and what people think and respond to after they read this phrase, eventually comes to two contrary statements contained within, which opens the door to literally any conversation you can think of related to God.

I cannot get over the fact how much I enjoy planting positive thoughts into someone's mind. I'd like to start with yours.

The Chapters

An American Journey moves from a boyhood in Denver through the years of the fair circuit, the philosophy of engagement, and the questions of truth and knowledge that shaped a lifetime of conversation. The chapters captured in the working manuscript are listed below.

  1. 1

    All on that day...

The first song ever memorized, the phrase that would not leave, and the purpose behind a lifetime of planting positive thoughts into the minds of strangers.

  2. 2

    It's a good sign...

Second grade, Mrs. Smiley's English class, and the moment GODISNOWHERE first entered a young mind and stayed there.

  3. 3

    Engage

The rules of the road, the strange things people believe, and a lifetime of meeting all sorts of people, including one who handed over a business card that read "Elohim."

  4. 4

The Early Bird catches the train.

Information and intuition, both non-material and both necessary, and how the right measure of each makes a significant impact on the material world.

  5. 5

    Orange Crush

The character-forming years of elementary school, the real importance of the written word, and channeling ability into sports and the outdoors.

  6. 6

    Great Scott.

Valet days at Rickenbaugh Cadillac, a fight that never happened, and the interruptions that turned into a calling.

  7. 7

There is no truth! Is that true?

Confronting thousands of people with a single self-refuting statement, and the two or three predictable ways people respond to logical incoherence.

  8. 8

Truth is not knowable! How do you know?

The companion question that turns skepticism back on itself and opens a door to genuine inquiry.

  9. 9

    Surprise effect

The human race is unique in all the earth, infinity and beyond, and what follows from taking that seriously.

  10. 10

    A is not 1

From the inefficiencies of QWERTY to the coding of a single letter, a meditation on symbol, value, and the schemes we choose to represent reality.

Reconstruction is in progress. The chapters above reflect the working manuscript as captured to date. The complete 2012 book is available as the original download below.
